A risky game called life

We should not gamble the preacher said
but I gamble ev'ry day
I plant my wheat and I make my bread
but don't use chemical spray

Now ev'ry farmer's a gambler too
two to one our crop will grow
Sometimes it dies right out of the blue
a risk with nothing to show

It's not the gamble that is so wrong
but an all too risky bet
when the odds are really way too long
that's a plan we should forget

A lott-e-ry ticket's one bad bet
a slot machine is the same
An arts degree and that college debt
just as bad, a risky game

With better odds we can pay the bill
an eng-in-eer-ing deg-ree
a poker game for those with the skill
Nothing in life is risk free

So don't tell me I should not gamble
or I'll stay in bed all day
'cause getting out I just might stumble
break an arm and then I'll pay
