...to the tune of Downtown
G Bm C D7
When you're alone And life is making you lonely,
G C D7
You can always go bow down
G Bm C D7
When you've got worries, In the noise and the hurry
G Bm C D7
Pray for help, I know, bow down
G Em
Just listen to the music of the churches of the city
G Em
Listen to a pastor preach the Gospel it is pretty
Bm
How can you lose?
C
God’s light is much brighter there
A
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares and go
G Bm C D
Bow down, things'll be great when you're
G Bm C D
Bowed down, no finer grace for sure,
G Bm C D G
Bow down, heaven is waiting for you
(Bow down)
G C D7
Don't hang around And let your problems surround you
G Bm C D
There is hope for you, bow down
G C D7
Maybe you know Some little chapels to go to
G Bm C D
Where they never close, bow down
G Em
Just listen to the rhythm of a song about Jehovah
G Em
You'll be dancing with 'em too before the night is over
Bm
Happy again
C
God’s light is much brighter there
A
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares and go
G Bm C D
Bow down, then you will see the light
G Bm C D
Bow down, God’s there for you tonight,
G Bm C D G
Bow down, you’re gonna be alright now
(Bow down, bow down)
G Em
And you may find somebody kind to help and understand you
G Em
Someone who is just like you and needs a gentle hand to
Bm
Guide them along
C
So, maybe I'll see you there
A
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares and go
G Bm C D
Bow down, things'll be great when you're
G Bm C D
Bowed down, no finer grace for sure,
G Bm C D G
Bow down, heaven is waiting for you
G D C D G
(Bow down, bow down, bow down, bow down)
No Other Name
With Bible and a big church key
A master's in theology
To preach that Jesus set us free
While politicians claim to be
Saviors of our economy
They really cannot guarantee
The promises they do decree
I'm sure that we would all agree
Though wonderful as it can be
Medical science can't guarantee
That we will live eternally
On that there's a monopoly
There is no other name you see
Than Jesus Christ he is the key
To salvation eternally
My Sister
She was born when I was just three
My first guitar she gave to me
My first friend by heaven's decree
An Easter egg she still owes me
When cowards tried to bully me
She stood right there and did not flee
"Your six to one's not fair I see.
If you want him you'll go through me!"
As neighbor or as absentee
I know that we will both agree
My sister she will always be
A friend and confidant to me
My first guitar she gave to me
My first friend by heaven's decree
An Easter egg she still owes me
When cowards tried to bully me
She stood right there and did not flee
"Your six to one's not fair I see.
If you want him you'll go through me!"
As neighbor or as absentee
I know that we will both agree
My sister she will always be
A friend and confidant to me
Political Pets
Chews through our budget just like that
She thinks a free ride's where it's at
She loves a handout and a pat
She'd kill her unborn just like that
Fetus is neither dog nor cat
She's happy lying on her mat
She's happy lying on her mat
As on our nickel she gets fat
My cat must be Republican
For poverty she has no plan
'Cause she is greedy and would ban
All plans for her to share her can
She looks down at the working man
And dogs and common cats she'd ban
To have it all's her secret plan
And stay a fat cat if she can
Non-Judgmental Dwight
We must not judge what others do as wrong or right
If we dare we will be judged as quite impolite
So nothing's wrong and ev'rything is now alright
Except of course to judge because that's judged not right
Now we don't mean that ev'rything has the green light
We judge that scams and war and rape are just not right
And child abuse and murder they give us a fright
It's a specific list of things we must get right
Things that Dwight says we may not judge as wrong or right
Beware we may be judged by non-judgmental Dwight
So if we disagree we'll shut our mouths real tight
He judges those who judge what could be wrong or right
There is no wrong! Don't disagree! Don't be uptight!
Because we may be judged by non-judgmental Dwight
Southwest Cumulonimbus Juice
Is something I think that we ought to discuss
You know the whole world is in such a big fuss
Because for our health it is such a big plus
We collect the small drops in a tiny flask
Our process is secret so don't even ask
It's worth a hundred bucks for such a hard task
A once ancient process took years to unmask
We gather our precious fluid drop by drop
In a guarded back room at our secret stop
Cumulonimbus juice from our southwest shop
Nothing can beat it, this juice is just tip top
Don't listen to lies that this is oil of snake
Rumors that these are just thunder clouds at stake
Giving rain drops filling up our local lake
Southwest cumulonimbus juice is no fake
Well if you must know, the rumor is quite true
The magical brew we collect from the blue
But then that all depends upon your world view
An elixir to some is water to you
Take a Chance on True Romance
I prayed that we would never part
We took a chance on true romance
Now I've become just an old fart
If our love were put on a chart
And were measured right from the start
We took a chance with no finance
And now our love's a work of art
And as our beauty falls apart
Our love's more beautiful at heart
As years advance our love does dance
I thank the Lord for Cupid's dart
So if a man were really smart
He'd go check out the marriage mart
And take a chance on true romance
And never from that state depart
Make Today a Jubilee
So I'll enjoy each moment of today sweet pea
Any day above ground is a good one you see
If I were any better there'd be two of me
I've forgiven everybody who has hurt me
And so from a hate-filled heart I have been set free
It's no use to bear grudges now don't you agree
It's time to have some joy, life is a cup of tea
I lost a house, a car, a job once as would be
It could be worse, I could be like an amputee
But then again an amputee may be happy
'Cause happiness is in the mind, we are set free
If this is our last day on earth what will it be
Will it be a fantastic day or drudgery
There's joy in every moment if we just can see
So let's get ready, make today a jubilee
I've Looked Around
I'd like to ask you old chappie
Why are you always so happy
I've looked around and rarely found
You to be moody or snappy
I wonder what is your secret
I'm sure there's something you regret
I've looked around and rarely found
That you are angry or upset
Your happy face is so sunny
Even when things aren't so funny
I've looked around and rarely found
A kinder soul, sweet honey
And then I heard the truth from you
How you have suffered but stayed true
I've looked around and rarely found
How gratitude has brought you through
You've been spat upon and hated
Reputation desecrated
I've looked around and rarely found
Such forgiveness to be feted
Why are you always so happy
I've looked around and rarely found
You to be moody or snappy
I wonder what is your secret
I'm sure there's something you regret
I've looked around and rarely found
That you are angry or upset
Your happy face is so sunny
Even when things aren't so funny
I've looked around and rarely found
A kinder soul, sweet honey
And then I heard the truth from you
How you have suffered but stayed true
I've looked around and rarely found
How gratitude has brought you through
You've been spat upon and hated
Reputation desecrated
I've looked around and rarely found
Such forgiveness to be feted
No New Year's Resolution Here
No new year's resolution here
'Cause promises just disappear
So I'll just grin from ear to ear
And be so glad for one more year
Perhaps I'll sit and have a beer
Just one and let me make that clear
And maybe I will volunteer
To help some needy folks 'round here
I'd like to keep it in low gear
With peace and good will the whole year
Don't want to be a brigadier
No trouble-making welcomed here
Though some may scoff and others jeer
Just have some fun this coming year
Above all else please persevere
May all your problems disappear
'Cause promises just disappear
So I'll just grin from ear to ear
And be so glad for one more year
Perhaps I'll sit and have a beer
Just one and let me make that clear
And maybe I will volunteer
To help some needy folks 'round here
I'd like to keep it in low gear
With peace and good will the whole year
Don't want to be a brigadier
No trouble-making welcomed here
Though some may scoff and others jeer
Just have some fun this coming year
Above all else please persevere
May all your problems disappear
