Turtles on a Log

Taking a walk above the bog
'Twas just a jaunt and not a slog
But what we saw I had to blog
About ten turtles on a log

We scurried down from up on high
But as we started to draw nigh
Most ran away — oh my, oh my
All we could do was heave a sigh

So we stood there for just a while
One by one they began to pile
Back on that log in single file
All we could do was stare and smile

Soon it was time for us to go
And with granddaughter in tow
We climbed back up from down below
And left those turtles in a row
