Riddle of the Seed

The Sower - Modern Parables Vol 1 - Lessons 9 & 10
The Sower
The riddle of the seed would be
A secret just for you and me
For calloused hearts it cannot be
We must have eyes willing to see

A farmer on a planting spree
Sowed seed indiscriminately
A path was his first place to be
But birds devoured that seed with glee

Seed on the rocks grew speedily
But with no root it died quickly
Some fell in thorns as it would be
But they soon choked as we'd foresee

The Parable of the Sower, 1557 Giclee Poster Print by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, 24x32
Parable of the Sower
Some folks won't listen to the key
With calloused hearts they disagree
They just won't hear the mystery
They've closed their eyes and cannot see

Not everyone's an appointee
The secret is for you and me
Some seed fell on good soil you see
And multiplied exceedingly
