Idols

No other Gods

Our idols are not wood or stone
Like those in ancient times well known
Idolatry we've overthrown
We live in an idol free zone

Unless of course we count the loan
For our big house of wood and stone
Our idols talk — the mobile phone
And then there is the TV drone

Idols of the Heart

We bow before the big-wig's throne
Celebrities who are just prone
To sin and being overthrown
By weaknesses we all bemoan

From cars and yachts to movies shown
Our modern idols are well known
And worship of them is home grown
May I please have an ice cream cone
